Heads of oil corporations must keep so busy! Don't you ever wonder what their weekly planners look like? Here's my best guess, judging by this week's BP headlines.
Monday: Fail to comply with federal safety regulations at our plant in Texas. Forget that similar violations led to a 2005 explosion that killed 15 workers at the same plant (for more on this, read this excellent post from The Pop Tort by Amanda).
Tuesday: Announce a second quarter profit increase of 28%. That's $9.47 billion in profit, up from $7.38 billion a year ago.
Wednesday: Go ahead and expand our refinery in Whiting, even though lawsuits filed by environmental groups warn it would break air pollution limits.
Thursday: Are you as excited as about finding out as I am?
